Biography of Baba Kharkhar Das Maharaj Ji

Biography- Baba Shri Kharkhar Das Ji Maharaj was born on 28 November 1947 in village- Dhanjawal post Hariharpur district Basti present (district Sant Kabir Nagar) in a simple farmer family.
The entire family was full of worldly comforts and no thing was scarce for living, nor was there any pain or dilemma, but after developing renunciation, he abandoned the entire family and household and came to Sonbarsa Pokhara Ashram.

Then the condition of this place was very pathetic, many people with evil tendencies used this place for activities like meat, alcohol and gambling. People from the nearby market and villages used to use this holy lake for defecation.
At that time Maharaj Ji made the entire place pure and clean with the help of the people, sometimes there was a time when after the arrival of a large number of saints and sages, food and accommodation could not be arranged. But time changed and with the help of people and devotees, various types of diseases were removed and the ashram became organized and started moving towards progress.

In the annual feast of the year 2004, Maharaj ji brought a boy from the family of devotees of the same district to the ashram to make him his successor. At that time, the entire hut was covered from all sides with various types of bushes and shrubs. Maharaj ji cleaned the entire ashram by using a shovel and axe with his own hands. It is said that Maharaj ji was a saint of supernatural, mysterious and carefree nature. Many saints could not stay in his company because Maharaj ji used to eat food only after working hard. Maharaj ji got many hand pumps, culverts, roads, temples located there renovated. In the year 2015, under the leadership of Maharaj ji, with the help of thousands of devotees and residents of the area, Jwala Mata temple was built.

In the year 2018, on Thursday, 25th October, at 10:10 pm (Kartik Krishna Paksha Pratipada), Maharaj Ji left his mortal body and became a resident of Satlok. As per heavy security and traditional customs, lakhs of devotees and followers bid final farewell to Maharaj Ji with humble and tearful eyes and the close saints and disciples of Maharaj Ji who reached for the last darshan got the funeral pyre performed by his successor Saint Shri Chhote Baba Ji.
